And my answer? “BOTH!”
What’s a birthday party without candid photos with your family and friends? Funny moments are pretty much synonymous to face painting. How often do your littlies have the chance to be their favourite animal or cartoon character? It’s seriously hilarious when you see a shy little boy suddenly give you a brave tiger ROAR or a little girl striking a Spidey pose.
So get your cameras ready, Mamas & Papas!
And what’s a kids party without souvenirs to bring home? I love Balloon Sculpting too because you get two in one! Balloon sculpting doubles up as entertainment plus a mighty cute gift for everyone to bring home! And yes, we do twist character balloon sculptures as well. Character balloons do take longer to make, so you’d get a friendly advice from our Kids Party Planner to prebook your extensions for the best party experience!
I’m not trying to make it hard for you to choose but that’s really what I truly feel!
Now, let’s play a Fact or Fiction game on face painting and balloon sculpting! I’ve got 4 questions for you. You ready?
Face painting is for kids.
I like to think of face paint as makeup made for creativity! The last time you came across a face painter, it was probably at a kids birthday party and you can’t imagine getting that cutesy design on yourself, right? But if you pick the right artist, I’m pretty sure you’d want a face or body painting as well! I do 90% of the face and body art jobs for adults personally, if they are on weekdays, and maybe if you book me early for Halloween weekend. The team does themed D&D Makeup, pre-dinner entertainment, night events, production/fashion shoots and more recently, belly painting for maternity photo shoots as well. It was a great honor for us to paint for our Deputy Prime Minister Mr Teo Chee Hean at last year’s NDP celebrations. Looking forward to spread our joy to more Singaporeans this SG50!
Face paints are water colors.
OK before you decide on a DIY party and run off to Popular book store to grab those water colors, I need to qualify this first. Face paints are water soluble paints, so if you wanna call them water colors, you’re right! But our water soluble face paints are hypoallergenic, non-toxic and safely formulated for your delicate facial skin. Please DO NOT attempt to apply other form of water colors (even if they are non-toxic) that you may find at local stores. You would be doing so at your own risk. The face paints we use are imported and are not sold in Singapore. You’ll only know you’re in safe hands when you hire a professional face painter.
Balloon sculpting is done by the Kids Magician.
At Happier Singapore, we ensure the Balloon Sculpting is done by a professional balloon sculptor or rather, balloon artist, some might say. If you do buy a 30 min magic show with 30 min of balloon sculpting, this means the kids magician is put through a mad rush to make a balloon sculpture for every single child after the show. What you may end up with are simple swords, guns, flowers, hearts, 1-balloon dogs and other “abstract” designs. Magicians are paid almost 4 to 5 times for their magic shows compared to balloon sculpting, so it doesn’t quite make sense for them to “invest” their time into balloons anyway. On the other hand, when you hire Happier Singapore for balloon sculpting, it is done by one of our artists who eats and breathes balloons. A balloon artist to chooses to invest his or her time into making beautiful yet fast balloon sculptures specially for you. <3
* Why are we not magicians? *
I really only fell in love with balloon sculpting after I saw what other amazingly talented people in Singapore and around the world were actually capable of making! And boy! Are their balloon sculptures NOT just for giveaways! Combining the inspiration from our local and overseas talents, with creative inputs from supportive clients like you, we have came up with so many types of balloon sculptures for decorative purposes just over the past year. From decorative balloon arches, columns, photo frames, backdrops, even a vintage volkswagen kmbi! Everything you can think of, we will help you make it out of balloons. Trust us and we won’t disappoint you. And believe it or not, nearly all the balloon decorations we have made are our first times!
I hope you guys enjoy reading my blog so far! I don’t usually have the opportunity to strike a deeper conversation with you while I’m planning your party, or even painting and twisting for your kids. So this is a little way for us to connect. I love getting to know my clients personally, so please join me on Instagram or Facebook by clicking on my doodles below.
For all other party enquiries, chat us up at firstname.lastname@example.org or +65 9271 7106!
I’m at events more often than not, so if you can’t talk to me, whatsapp or email me please!
P.S. If you absolutely need me to be the one painting or twisting personally at your child’s birthday party, you can lock me in for your party as a mascot face painter or mascot balloon artist. My long black hair can magically turn pale gold, brown with a white streak, red or even into a bob! I can grow muscles too. See?
* Trying to be a magician *

What happens when you cross a kids party planner with a wedding planner?
Read on to find out what happened at our first ever Happier wedding party! Everything was planned and executed in-house end to end. It was a real challenge last October. I had to plan this in the midst of starting up my second business SchoolGuide.Asia, handling our halloween face painting peak season as well as hubby’s absence for his military exercises.
But it was a very gratifying one because everything was entirely DIY-ed. Made from scratch with love.
That once in a lifetime experience that we just wanna celebrate with our family and closest friends.
All these wouldn’t have been possible without my “enthu mama” bridesmaids, JS’s “gangho” groomsmen and our sporting family members and friends! We had so many highlights in our dinner programme that an entire song and dance segment from my dearest buddies from Music & Dance Society from junior college had to be cut out. But thanks so much guys!!
You all are simply the best!!
Here’s the start to our big kids party of the year! Party for big kids! :p Starting with waking up blurry face at 5am in the morning to be turned into a white princess. It’s nice to be on the other side of the chair for once.
7am! All done with makeup and hair. Family shot!
And the sisters shot!
8.30am! Cars are honking. Groomsmen arrive for gate crash games!
The God Sister takes over audit of the ang baos. Occupational hazard working at PWC.
Challenge’s on! Guess how did the Groom’s first ever face painting turn out?
MEOWWW! Grumpy cats and crazy cats in da house!
Time for a morning stretch with cat yoga! I lived with cats my whole life, now I’m married to one.
Ooof! Who said being a cat is easy?
Treasure hunt time! It must be fate.
Because it was none other than the groom who found my room keys in a tiny bottle of cat food.
My sisters got pretty creative with the 10 promises!
Even my 3 year old cutie pie nephew found it funny!
“I promise to love you even if you get skinny, fat or old.” You say one ah, Dear!
He made it through the fat cat obstacle course! Like a true soldier!
Oh hello handsome.
Kids, this is when you look away.
This is what happens when we’re under Amanda’s mistletoe!
Hurray! New member added to the Bride’s family!
Sneaked a photo with our adorable Chindian Dutch nieces! Chinese + Indian = Chindian.
My loving mother-in-law… …
Completely blows my father-in-law off his feet!
Hurray! New member added to the Groom’s family!
6pm! We’re all setup for the dinner banquet!
We searched the island for the best of both worlds – a casual garden setting yet weather proof at the same time.
And we found a gem!
Guanxian and Moxi helped us set the mood as our guests streamed in. We love Moxi’s relaxing renditions of the popular and the evergreens.
Instead of the usual guestbook, we designed some advice cards!
We saved these in our love piggy bank. We’ll take one out to read and savour them in our free time.
Scratch art ain’t just for kids! I scratched out our love story in rainbow colors.
Shared the fun we had on our pre-wedding photo shoot around Singapore!
Designed our own photo booth standee too. I picked up some basic graphic design specially for our wedding.
And searched the whole of Singapore just to gather all the mama shop style candies and crackers.
Bring back the good ole memories from everyone’s school days!
Isn’t this the cutest ang bao you’ve ever seen? My business partner got it hand sewn after our SchoolGuide.Asia logo.
We had a kids party themed military wedding alright. Some serious fun.
And we lived happily ever after. But what they didn’t tell you in the fairy tales, is that happily ever after is just the beginning!
Huang Shi Nan, may be famous, but he is such a nice person. No airs at all. He joined in our wedding as co-host with one of our friends and made all the aunties in the house go gaga. Hahahaha!
Groom told his touching version of our story and how our family and friends had brought us together time and again.
Not forgetting the bride’s mom’s childhood friends who came in with power packed vocals and hidden DJ talent!
Dad, I may have found my prince, but you will always be King.
What? Hello Kitty Boy & Super Girl?
And Beauty found herself a new boyfriend?
All our childhood fantasies came alive at our wedding!
Everyone can’t resist jiggling with the fantasy characters.
We added a bit of fun into the usual round table photo taking with buckets of hand-made props, which our guests also took home as souvenirs.
And the happier crew behind the scenes – putting up the balloons, mending the photo booth, running around distributing photos & topping up the candy bar. Thanks guys!!
And that sums up our dream kids party military wedding.
JS and I are off for our overdue honeymoon tomorrow till 12 May 2015. Stefanie & Angie will help to make arrangements for your parties whilst we’re living happily ever after!
We’ll be back soon with more exciting stuff to share!
For party enquiries, please email to email@example.com.
Thank you to every single one of YOU! Our dearest friends, partners and customers who have made 2014 such an amazing journey for us!
May you and your families be well and happy this holiday season! See you in 2015, Year of the Goat!
Hallo everyone! It’s almost that time of the year again. Halloween! You bet this surely is the most exciting time of the year for face painters across the world, even here in tiny red dot Singapore. Here’s a hair raising post from my halloween throwback to get you inspired for your upcoming ghoulish parties.
To all the lovely mommies and daddies planning kids parties, rest assured life goes on as usual before 10pm every day. Our kids party entertainers are still happy to be of service at your birthday and family events.
For enquiries, please drop us a note at firstname.lastname@example.org and use the hotline only in extreme party emergencies, +6592717106. Usually for such emergencies, our customers go, “Help! My party is this Saturday, I NEED a face painter, balloon sculptor, magician, candyfloss, Queen Elsa….” Ok you get the gist.
My friendly RM usually makes sure you get a response to your email within the same working day. Else I may jump in to respond to emails at unearthly hours after I’m done with planning for my wedding, launch of my next company, doing my best to serve returning customers and attempting to make time for my own family.
Finally! Here’s what you’ve all been scrolling down for. I would advise you to brace yourselves, the face paintings coming up next are not for the faint hearted!
And here is Whitney and her team’s winning Alice in Wonderland entourage, featuring Mad Hatter, The Queen of Hearts, Alice & Royal Cards.
Well that wasn’t too bad was it? Was Halloween getting too cute for you? Let’s amp up the scare factor!
Hand signs are definitely the IN-thing amongst the cold-blooded.
You never knew the man behind the iron mask is best friends with Frankenstein, did you?
V for Vendetta is back in Singapore!
Get ‘em drama mamas! Enacting the killer kiss is seriously no joke.
I would love to paint someone into a full body skeleton one day! Morbid huh? Anyone care for an anatomic session?
I moustache you a question. What do you think of guys rocking a sugarskull face painting?
At this point, you are thinking we couldn’t get any more effeminate than an Ursula face painting on a boy. Halloween IS the perfect excuse to go crazy and laugh your heads off at each other. So ladies, are you ready for makeup beyond your wildest imagination?
There’s so much you can do with these pretty Sugarskull face paintings! We absolutely adore the way you can customize the design with accents like florals, whimsical swirls, crosses, glitter, spiderwebs etc.
How about a cracked half face skeleton of a century old Geisha?
There’s Cheryl Miles from HOT 91.3FM Radio Station with her Spider Queen halloween face and body painting.
What have you been missing out on, Peter Parker? With Spiderwoman around, Mary Jane can go fly kite.
And here’s Charmaine Yee and her jungle buddies from the HOTTEST Radio station in Singapore.
We bumped into Audrey Lim at the Starhub ZooMoo production launch! Another amazing voice-morpher who is the voice actress behind the character, Emiko.
The Happier team is definitely gonna be saving a couple of nights attending halloween parties ourselves, so remember to book us early if you wanna be transformed by our halloween face and body painters!
And only during halloween, will you see us glow in the dark.
P.S. We didn’t post the ultra gore and bloody stuff cuz it’s simply too morbid for this happy blog. If you’d like some of these special FX artistry on your next session, please make a special request on your enquiry.
Balloon twisting has been just as exciting a journey for me as face painting. Slightly more than a year back, I didn’t even know the technical name of balloon twisting was called balloon sculpting, hence the name of this blog.
I won’t deny it’s tough to twist balloons. Balloon sculpting definitely helps you work out a sweat compared to face painting. So far, a year of being a wannabe balloon sculptor who is really a face painter in disguise has been pretty fun too. I must say that the other experienced balloon sculptors in the team are way better.
The balloon sculptures below are my baby steps towards injecting a bit more creativity. Mom says I’m insane because I dare to try something I’ve never done before. I secretly know she is excited to tag along or have a hand in the balloons too. Guess we both love novelties. When we get home from a balloon decoration gig, Mom always has twice the energy to narrate to Dad on her adventure in full animation. If you read far down enough, you’ll find out I launched Happier Singapore on 3 April 2013, to celebrate my mom’s birthday and parents’ anniversary.
On Valentine’s, we received a special order for a despicably cute surprise. We found a way to sculpt the balloons in a way you can easily tell who each balloon sculpture was. And the client’s friend ended up adding a Kitty Inspired Princess balloon sculpture as well. We ninja-ed our way into their girl friends’ offices and planted the Valentine balloons on their desks over lunch hour.
Then we had another fun request for animal balloon decorations to tie in with our client’s River Safari promotion. So we decked the tables with a lion, zebra, pink bird and elephant balloon sculpture…
Twisted some slithery balloon snakes on the chairs…
And left the cheeky balloon giraffe and monkey to lure the kids in from the doorway.
Donovan’s mommy asked us for ideas on for his baby 1st month party. She booked a couple of other services with us, so to thank her for that, we put in extra effort for her balloon decorations. Here’s our balloon twisting ideation process. From paper to reality. There wasn’t much space indoors so we settled for a miniature sesame street inspired balloon arch with the cute characters sitting in carriages.
And here’s a customized balloon arch we setup for Cold Storage Kids Run 2014 fun pack collection. Did you know Cold Storage has a mascot? Here’s how we turned Appleton into a giant balloon arch. Photo credits of the original Appleton mascot to mommy blogger, Delphine.
Then Easter arrived in April and we twisted some Easter bunny balloon decorations. Have you ever wondered why bunnies came out of Easter eggs and not chicks? We decked the place with chubby balloon bunnies and polka dot balloon easter egg baskets in happy rainbow colors.
And the next Mother’s Day balloon sculptures, we dedicate to all the mommies reading our little blog. Balloon sculptures of a mother carrying her baby, MOM in 3D balloon alphabets, balloon roses and a super huge puffy balloon heart.
Not forgetting to all the daddies reading this too, you’re a rarity of sorts to be planning your child’s party! Hope you had an awesome Father’s Day this June. We dedicate this Father’s Day balloon sculpture to you. A vintage Volkswagen combi car balloon sculpture with a twist. We weaved in our client’s corporate colors and their balloon decorations doubled up as a pretty interesting photobooth prop for their retro-themed roadshow.
I think you would have already guessed by now which is the one design we’ve got the most requests for.
And I just wanna share a happy piece of personal news to end off our first blog post on balloon twisting, JS and I are getting married this 18 October 2014. Nonetheless, you’ll be glad to know the rest of the happier team will still be around to celebrate your parties and special occasions while I’m caught up with the preparations.
Hope our balloon decorations put a smile on your face today. We’re looking forward to paint and twist something fun at your next party.

I was super excited when Mommy Sheree invited Happier Singapore back to face paint at her party again in February. Firstly, I must say a big thank you to Sheree for letting me blog about Declan’s 4th Madagascar Carnival theme party! I am continually amazed by the parents who hire me as their face painter and balloon twister for their kids parties.
Sheree is one of the many mommies and daddies who put their kids first despite having a busy career. You will see all the effort and creative juices plowed into this birthday party. This is the very essence that we want to celebrate with you, here at Happier Singapore. When I started the company last April, it was with the vision of celebrating the family through art and creativity.
Yes and that’s Sheree and her lovely family!
Declan the birthday Tiger having a romantic train ride with his pretty Bunny girl friend. You can tell they are getting slightly impatient while waiting for the train to get moving.
Alright! Here we go! Choo Choooooooo! You can see the kids beaming with joy (and the cool train dude as well).
Our pretty bunny, Olive, taking her lucky shot at the carnival game stalls. We are gonna be looking forward to doing more fluffy bunny face paintings for the Easter garden parties in April!
I love this photo! Jack never fails to amaze me how he can capture the many fleeting expressions of the kids with his trusty lens. He is really a true artist don’t you think? If I was a parent, I would really see a good photographer as an investment. Imagine how precious all these memories will be when you look back years later. I still have my toddler birthday party pics btw! Thanks to my own mom who lovingly kept all these memories for me since 20 over years ago.
Jack’s photography services are available for hire with your birthday party package from Happier Singapore.
The highlight of the party. Piñata time!!! Who doesn’t love candy? Here are some tips to consider if you are planning to get a piñata for your child:
1) Age of the children
Generally for ages 4 and below, or if there are space constraints, it would be better to get a pull string piñata. No whacking or violence until the children are old enough to understand and listen to instructions.
For 5 and up, the kids really do get very thrilled anticipating when the piñata is going to burst open with sweet treats. Everyone cannot wait to get a go with the stick. But always safety first! You might like to segment your party area by drawing an imaginary magic line and getting another parent to play as crocodile. Anyone who crosses the line when it is not their turn gets eaten up and goes behind the queue.
If you need professional help with party games, we can organize them for you. No logistical headaches and we will save you from the insanity
Fondant cakes are all the rage for birthday parties nowadays. I’d like to call them edible art. While such cakes can run up to the hundreds depending on complexity of your designs, they do add a lot of color and hype to your party. If you are looking for cute custom character fondant birthday cakes or cupcakes, just let us know.
Happy 4th Birthday Declan!! <3
After the cake cutting, everyone wanted a piece of Alex the Lion! So we did a cartoony lion face painting for this cute little boy. I must admit it is a challenge to get our face painting artwork turn out well on the younger tots. They like move a lot. But well, we have our ways to get the job done. That’s when maybe some background in psychology helps? Hahaha!
Or you could get your lion face painting done on your child’s arm instead. We do make it a point to develop feminine and masculine variations of our designs so no gender bias. We do aim to paint and twist anything your child asks for (within reasonable limits due to time constraint). Girls can be dragons or Spiderman if they want to and boys can be butterflies or Hello Kitty if they want to as well!
Our glitter Hello Kitty Inspired face painting is a pretty popular design among the girls. You can find our arm painting variants as well here.
Sometimes simple is elegance. Everyone wants to be Snow Queen ever since Christmas last year. I want be Snow Queen too. You can find the looks I sometimes paint on myself here.
Spidey wins the most popular Superhero face painting design award!
This is my favorite family photo from the party. You can really tell the difference between professional photography versus my own smartphone photography from some previous posts. I really enjoy admiring the artwork from the photographers we work with.
It’s sundown and that concludes Declan’s amazing birthday party.
It’s New Year’s Eve and we are taking the time to count our blessings for the year of 2013. A big thank you to all our customers, partners and suppliers for supporting us since we started up in April. Special thanks to all the mummies and daddies who have invited our face painters, balloon sculptors & decorators, caricaturists, calligraphers, magicians, photographers, craft & game hosts, popcorn & candy floss chefs to your child’s parties and family events! Without you, our artists would not have the opportunity to spread our joy and love for children and art!
It’s really great to know that our hard work and passion has not gone unrecognized. Just 6 months into our launch, Happier Singapore has been recognized by The Asian Parent as first on the list of Top 5 Face Painters in Singapore! We will continue to strive to improve as artists and entertainers, bringing you creative designs beyond your wildest imagination!
Our most popular girl face painting designs, needless to say, are our rainbow butterflies! Even within this small category of designs, our face painters like to paint each butterfly to bring our the personality of our little customers. From the moment she sits down in our chair, we can tell if Little Miss Sunshine, Little Miss Shy, Little Miss Thoughtful etc. That’s part of our enjoyment too as face painters I guess.
My personal favorite is the Frozen Fairy Princess mask. This minimalist face painting design is inspired by the BEST Disney movie of the year, Frozen. It is one of those Disney animation movies you definitely must watch! It made me cry so much but I still left the theatre with a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart. Really love the emotions that came through the voices and storyline. Sure, you have heard about true love in other fairy tales, but Frozen really gives a new dimension to what true love is. This Frozen Fairy Princess mask, I dedicate to my darling younger sister, Amanda. May we continue face painting together happily ever after and do you wanna build a snowman?
Isn’t it every boy’s dream to save the world and defend their fairies and princesses? Our face painters will bestow superpowers upon your sons and let them experience being a superhero (until their next bath). Of course, with great power comes great responsibility. Not only for Spiderman; that’s what we tell our happier Captain America, Batman, Ironman, Green Lantern, Wolverine & Superman as well.
Only recently did I discover the difference between a Unicorn, Pegasus, Alicorn and your regular earth Pony and Horse. If you are above the age of 12, chances are you’d need to learn this from someone younger than you. Well, at least I did. You might be surprised how much attention to detail your child is capable of when you sprinkle some imagination, colors and magic into your teaching. Maybe I’ll blog about teachable moments from the psychologist – face painter perspective next time!
Face painting is no child’s play. While we aim for speed at events and parties, you can also book a private session to get a high definition face painting makeover for your fancy dress functions. You can get the same cinematic quality makeup done in the comfort of your home or office with family, friends and colleagues. We’re always looking forward to get creative for your next Masquerade ball, Halloween party and more!
Are you looking for innovative marketing tools? Leverage this a unique marketing opportunity with our face and body art, where your guests become walking and smiling ambassadors of your brand. You can count on our face and body painters to make your event moments Instagram and Facebook worthy. Because our face and body painters can paint free hand, the possibilities are virtually limitless!
Apart from entertaining the kids, we certainly love dressing up your party venues too! We turned a living room into an Igloo by building a mini arch in the doorway this Christmas. Or you can share with us other whacky theme ideas and we’ll build you a giant arch for your stage or grand entrance.
Can you spot the toddler in the photo above?
We came up with some colorful balloon column decorations to match our clients’ themed entertainment too!
Our balloon sculptors are almost like your modern day fairy godmothers and fairy godfathers. Whatever the birthday boy or girl wishes for, we can twist it out of balloons. No party is complete without each child going home with a cute balloon sculpture toy!
If you are a brand manager, we can come up with a creative balloon marketing plan to boost the ROI on your roadshow promotional efforts too!
Caricature is a must-have for adult parties I would say – it doubles up as entertainment and a personalized door gift for your guests! Our caricaturists are highly sought after for weddings, cocktail receptions and roadshows. A happier caricaturist will lighten up your parties as they entertain you live with a cartoon caricature of yourself drawn on the spot.
If you love our face painting designs and you want the 2-in-1 entertainment and door gift concept, name art calligraphy is the perfect option for you! We are proud to say that Happier Singapore is the first in Singapore to offer this unique service.
It is so true when they say art is influenced by culture. I am getting a feel like I am the last few young Singaporeans who love their country and their own culture. I was inspired by the traditional Chinese calligraphers at our local Chinatown. Our happier artists put own our spin on the traditional calligraphy art with vibrant colors and trendy designs that appeal to all ages. If you are planning for a cultural or community event, our name art calligraphers will be most happy to weave in a cultural element for you too!
Here’s wishing you a happier new year with family and friends!
We look forward to bringing you more happiness and creative party art in year 2014!

Two months have just flown by and it’s National Day tomorrow!
Some quick personal annoucements, I decided to leave my first job officially on 28th of June 2013. After graduating from NUS Psychology in 2012, my Adjunct Associate Professor, Douglas Abrams, offered me a fun time job at Expara (full time job I mean). So I spent my first year after graduation doing business development for Expara, a local venture capital firm providing funding, advisory and training for entrepreneurs with innovative technology-driven businesses. It was a tough decision to leave because I have been blessed with a great boss and colleagues. Then and again, we are only young once. So while I am still young, energetic and not tied down with too many commitments, why not just do something I really love?
So yes! I am running Happier Singapore full time! Whoopee!
I love the challenge of running this business. It is very fast paced so it doesn’t give me any chance of getting bored. Apart from being an entertainer, I need to oversee the marketing, finances, public relations and human resource aspects as well. I could probably hire someone, but it is very important to me that I am able to have a personal touch with all of our clients. We are always on our toes to ensure that every party or event we go to, we are able to deliver exceptional service!
I’m also always making a note to self to make time for my own family, boy friend and friends amidst the happier hustle. It’s not getting any easier, but I am getting a hang of it.
Since April, I see all my happier artists making really good progress on both their technical skills in face painting and balloon twisting, as well as developing their personal style and confidence in interacting with the kids and their families. I can safely say each and every one of my artists are capable of flying solo now. Feeling proud like a mummy now.
We have regular updates on Facebook in case you are looking for more pictures on our balloon sculptures!
Also, if you are looking for NDP face painting, a team of students from Temasek Junior College will be situated along Orchard Road to paint you some orchids and Singapore flags! Please feel free to approach them for your face or hand painting! All proceeds will be going to the Children’s Cancer Foundation. Such a meaningful way of spending their NDP holidays!
We had the NDP charity face painting 1-h crash course just this Monday on the TJC campus! It was really a joy to share the art with Kevin and gang! It was a pleasant surprise to have my good friend, Mr Ashraf and his brother, Mr Aaron, pop by at the end of the session too!
Have a Happier National Day everyone!
Original post on Alicia’s blog.
The Extreme Sailing Series 2013 gig was the longest gig I have done for the year so far! 7 hours straight in Singapore’s super sunny weather left me in a hot mess. Best of all, a heavy storm came when I packed up at 7.30pm. Luckily my dear boy friend, JS, came to my rescue. By the way, JS is the photographer who took all these awesome pictures. You can see the quality of his shots compared to those in my previous posts!
This is my favorite shot of the day because the whole family got their faces painted! How often do you see a mom joining the queue with her little ones to get her dash of color? Plus it’s Mother’s Day tomorrow so it’s time to get into the “mom-appreciation” mode.
Another lovely family shot! I admit I have a fetish for little boys in wild cat designs! I think being in that wild cat face masks helps them channel their boundless energies in a positive way. They can officially get away with being playful and rowdy because they are after all, wild cats.
Big brother is looking all macho in an abstract marvel super hero face paint mask.
I can totally tell a Japanese child when I paint one because they are such mild natured, lightly happy and calm children. Can you tell? I felt like JS captured their mannerism pretty well in this photo.
These 2 sisters must play a lot in the garden. They both requested for cute garden bugs, a caterpillar and bumble bee!
Inspired by the recent Iron Man movie!
An abstract asymmetrical girly design.
She’s a swimmer so I painted her a marine butterfly.
The Mr Bean soya food truck was having lull time in mid-afternoon so I had the chance to paint some of their staff. What a small world that Dean and Song Xue both work at the One-North outlet opposite my office!
And yes, I do visit Mr Bean pretty often nowadays and get some special perks there.
Two sisters feeling V-ictorious with their flower power!
Enough of the airy fairies! The Cool girls are in the house! How about a tiger butterfly or abstract leopard?
Ok that was just fantasy play for her. She’s a real sweetie. Won’t you look at that? It’s not just the popsicle melting. My heart is melting too.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mommies out there! May your Sunday be filled with laughter and hugs from the little (or overgrown) ones. I would like to thank you for giving me a chance to paint your lovely kids!
To my own mommy, I love you. So mushy. But whatever.
Mom, all the work I do now..from making kids happy..to the personalized way I run the Happier Singapore business..is inspired by you! When I paint, I am in fantasy world of being a mom like you. Every child I paint, no matter how squirmy or dictatorial, I shower with love and patience like you did to Amanda and me.
This is by far the longest blog post I had the patience to write! Thanks for reading to the end!
