Thank you to every single one of YOU! Our dearest friends, partners and customers who have made 2014 such an amazing journey for us!
May you and your families be well and happy this holiday season! See you in 2015, Year of the Goat!
It’s New Year’s Eve and we are taking the time to count our blessings for the year of 2013. A big thank you to all our customers, partners and suppliers for supporting us since we started up in April. Special thanks to all the mummies and daddies who have invited our face painters, balloon sculptors & decorators, caricaturists, calligraphers, magicians, photographers, craft & game hosts, popcorn & candy floss chefs to your child’s parties and family events! Without you, our artists would not have the opportunity to spread our joy and love for children and art!
It’s really great to know that our hard work and passion has not gone unrecognized. Just 6 months into our launch, Happier Singapore has been recognized by The Asian Parent as first on the list of Top 5 Face Painters in Singapore! We will continue to strive to improve as artists and entertainers, bringing you creative designs beyond your wildest imagination!
Our most popular girl face painting designs, needless to say, are our rainbow butterflies! Even within this small category of designs, our face painters like to paint each butterfly to bring our the personality of our little customers. From the moment she sits down in our chair, we can tell if Little Miss Sunshine, Little Miss Shy, Little Miss Thoughtful etc. That’s part of our enjoyment too as face painters I guess.
My personal favorite is the Frozen Fairy Princess mask. This minimalist face painting design is inspired by the BEST Disney movie of the year, Frozen. It is one of those Disney animation movies you definitely must watch! It made me cry so much but I still left the theatre with a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart. Really love the emotions that came through the voices and storyline. Sure, you have heard about true love in other fairy tales, but Frozen really gives a new dimension to what true love is. This Frozen Fairy Princess mask, I dedicate to my darling younger sister, Amanda. May we continue face painting together happily ever after and do you wanna build a snowman?
Isn’t it every boy’s dream to save the world and defend their fairies and princesses? Our face painters will bestow superpowers upon your sons and let them experience being a superhero (until their next bath). Of course, with great power comes great responsibility. Not only for Spiderman; that’s what we tell our happier Captain America, Batman, Ironman, Green Lantern, Wolverine & Superman as well.
Only recently did I discover the difference between a Unicorn, Pegasus, Alicorn and your regular earth Pony and Horse. If you are above the age of 12, chances are you’d need to learn this from someone younger than you. Well, at least I did. You might be surprised how much attention to detail your child is capable of when you sprinkle some imagination, colors and magic into your teaching. Maybe I’ll blog about teachable moments from the psychologist – face painter perspective next time!
Face painting is no child’s play. While we aim for speed at events and parties, you can also book a private session to get a high definition face painting makeover for your fancy dress functions. You can get the same cinematic quality makeup done in the comfort of your home or office with family, friends and colleagues. We’re always looking forward to get creative for your next Masquerade ball, Halloween party and more!
Are you looking for innovative marketing tools? Leverage this a unique marketing opportunity with our face and body art, where your guests become walking and smiling ambassadors of your brand. You can count on our face and body painters to make your event moments Instagram and Facebook worthy. Because our face and body painters can paint free hand, the possibilities are virtually limitless!
Apart from entertaining the kids, we certainly love dressing up your party venues too! We turned a living room into an Igloo by building a mini arch in the doorway this Christmas. Or you can share with us other whacky theme ideas and we’ll build you a giant arch for your stage or grand entrance.
Can you spot the toddler in the photo above?
We came up with some colorful balloon column decorations to match our clients’ themed entertainment too!
Our balloon sculptors are almost like your modern day fairy godmothers and fairy godfathers. Whatever the birthday boy or girl wishes for, we can twist it out of balloons. No party is complete without each child going home with a cute balloon sculpture toy!
If you are a brand manager, we can come up with a creative balloon marketing plan to boost the ROI on your roadshow promotional efforts too!
Caricature is a must-have for adult parties I would say – it doubles up as entertainment and a personalized door gift for your guests! Our caricaturists are highly sought after for weddings, cocktail receptions and roadshows. A happier caricaturist will lighten up your parties as they entertain you live with a cartoon caricature of yourself drawn on the spot.
If you love our face painting designs and you want the 2-in-1 entertainment and door gift concept, name art calligraphy is the perfect option for you! We are proud to say that Happier Singapore is the first in Singapore to offer this unique service.
It is so true when they say art is influenced by culture. I am getting a feel like I am the last few young Singaporeans who love their country and their own culture. I was inspired by the traditional Chinese calligraphers at our local Chinatown. Our happier artists put own our spin on the traditional calligraphy art with vibrant colors and trendy designs that appeal to all ages. If you are planning for a cultural or community event, our name art calligraphers will be most happy to weave in a cultural element for you too!
Here’s wishing you a happier new year with family and friends!
We look forward to bringing you more happiness and creative party art in year 2014!

Two months have just flown by and it’s National Day tomorrow!
Some quick personal annoucements, I decided to leave my first job officially on 28th of June 2013. After graduating from NUS Psychology in 2012, my Adjunct Associate Professor, Douglas Abrams, offered me a fun time job at Expara (full time job I mean). So I spent my first year after graduation doing business development for Expara, a local venture capital firm providing funding, advisory and training for entrepreneurs with innovative technology-driven businesses. It was a tough decision to leave because I have been blessed with a great boss and colleagues. Then and again, we are only young once. So while I am still young, energetic and not tied down with too many commitments, why not just do something I really love?
So yes! I am running Happier Singapore full time! Whoopee!
I love the challenge of running this business. It is very fast paced so it doesn’t give me any chance of getting bored. Apart from being an entertainer, I need to oversee the marketing, finances, public relations and human resource aspects as well. I could probably hire someone, but it is very important to me that I am able to have a personal touch with all of our clients. We are always on our toes to ensure that every party or event we go to, we are able to deliver exceptional service!
I’m also always making a note to self to make time for my own family, boy friend and friends amidst the happier hustle. It’s not getting any easier, but I am getting a hang of it.
Since April, I see all my happier artists making really good progress on both their technical skills in face painting and balloon twisting, as well as developing their personal style and confidence in interacting with the kids and their families. I can safely say each and every one of my artists are capable of flying solo now. Feeling proud like a mummy now.
We have regular updates on Facebook in case you are looking for more pictures on our balloon sculptures!
Also, if you are looking for NDP face painting, a team of students from Temasek Junior College will be situated along Orchard Road to paint you some orchids and Singapore flags! Please feel free to approach them for your face or hand painting! All proceeds will be going to the Children’s Cancer Foundation. Such a meaningful way of spending their NDP holidays!
We had the NDP charity face painting 1-h crash course just this Monday on the TJC campus! It was really a joy to share the art with Kevin and gang! It was a pleasant surprise to have my good friend, Mr Ashraf and his brother, Mr Aaron, pop by at the end of the session too!
Have a Happier National Day everyone!
Original post on Alicia’s personal blog:
The number of enquiries for face painting and balloon sculpting have been growing slowly but steadily since January. And finally, on my mom’s birthday this 3rd April, I set up my first company, Happier Singapore!
All my closest friends and sister have joined forces in spreading our love for face painting and balloon twisting. It was actually pretty fun to start building a team proper! So here are some milestones documenting the baby steps to where we are now!
Here are my besties after their first face painting workshop! We have learnt how to make basic lines and shapes with our brushes.
Here are they again after the second workshop! We have learnt how to put basic lines and shapes into a picture!
Finally, I brought them for some on-the-job training! Pretty impressive job on the little pretty girls huh?
I have been doing my homework as well. See kids? If you want to be good in anything, you must do your homework! Even magic comes from practice.
And of course, nothing is like trying out the designs on cute curly-haired live models!
I totally love it when the daddies are so super spontaneous! They’ll do anything to make their little ones happy. Including painting their face after their toddler’s shoe or tattooing a talking snake over their mouth.
Going on to balloon sculpting, this was the very first unicorn design I came up with! The proportions came out kinda funny but I’ve tweaked the design now.
And then, I got excited and started making a whole balloon zoo!
Sometimes, I use balloons for some simple party games and then recycle the game props into wearable fairy wings for the birthday princess too!
The beauty of balloon sculpting is that it is still possible to send the kids a personalized balloon doll even if we can’t be there for their parties at times.
Finally, here’s Chris and me balloon twisting our Labour Day holiday away at OCBC Ion Orchard yesterday!
So overall, Year 2013 has been treating me very well. I am especially heartened by clients who feed me so well during my gigs.
I do apologize for the times I leave the slice of cake untouched or have to rush off to another event immediately! Even as I pause to take a bite of cake or sip of water, I’m feeling so bad having the children standing in line for me to grant their wishes! Still, I really really appreciate it when the boss at OCBC insists I take a break to eat chicken rice and drink OCBC mineral water. Thank you for the power-up!
I might not get a chance to blog again too soon, but you can still find out what we are gonna be up to this weekend on Facebook!
Whether you’re planning for a party or you’re just simply mesmerized with the magic of face paint and balloons, drop me an SMS at 8128 2005 if you’d like us to entertain your guests or set up a workshop for you and your family & friends.
Hope to paint and twist for you soon!
P.S. I found a pic of my younger sis’s first ever balloon sculpture. Mr Egg Head looked pretty hilarious doesn’t he?
